alcost asked a question in the introductory thread, and I wanted to go ahead and make it a separate topic!
His question was,"Is low carb the best way to lose weight?"
Compared to most people's normal carbohydrate intake, technically the answer would be yes. The problem is that people get WAY too carried away with this!
For healthy fat loss, the first thing that you have to take care of is making sure there is a *slight* reduction in calories. None of this Biggest Loser junk, ok, where they eat 1600 calories each day and burn 4000-6000. (For the record, that is not an exaggeration.)
Once we've achieved a slight reduction in calories, it's time to pay attention to some very simple rules.
- Lean protein at each meal.
- Green veggies at each meal.
- Healthy carbs at the meal before and 1-2 meals after your workout.
- Healthy fats at all of the other meals.
- Drink 1 gallon of water each day.
- Eat small meals every 3 hours.
That's it. I've never met a client that wouldn't lose weight with those 6 simple steps.
Hope that helps and God bless,
Jeremy Nelms
