Imagine that on a beautiful, sunny afternoon, you are enjoying your favorite past time, and you receive a voice mail on your phone. You notice that it is from your best female friend, and you smile as you enter your password to check your voicemail.
Your smile turns to shock as you hear your friend crying into your phone. She goes on and on about “how fat” she is and how she’s “not good at anything” and about how she’s “done nothing but fail”. She talks about “being a failure” and how “no one likes her”.
Knowing something is obviously wrong, you immediately stop what you are doing and give her a call. You spend 30 minutes talking with her and reassuring her that those feelings aren’t true. In fact, you give her at least a dozen reasons why the things going through her head are impossible! After all, your friend is a wonderful person!
Digging some more, you find out that your friend had overheard a co-worker talking badly about her, and that she had finally just had too much.
And now, you’re angry. Why would someone say something terrible about your best friend?
How dare they talk that way, right?
Here is my question to YOU, right now, as you read this…
How dare you talk that way to yourself?
If you’re like the VAST majority of people, you have a ton of negative self-talk or “head trash” going through your head, hour after hour, day after day. Negative statements about your value, your worth, your looks, your appearance, your body, your abilities, your life, your past, your present, your potential for the future… ALL of them stream through your mind, all day long.
And they are affecting you more than you realize. Those constantly negative thoughts are holding you back. They are crippling you today, just as they have crippled you in the past.
And unless you get on the phone with your brain and talk some sense into it, it will keep badgering you and making you feel that way (and worse).
Friend, you can never forget that you are a child of God. God literally created this world and the universe for his most amazing and most loved creation… YOU. ME. Everyone! But even more than that: He gave His SON for you!
It’s sad to see how many clients can’t keep the excess weight off because they never undergo the transformation Paul talks about in Romans.
Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then, you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is – His good, pleasing, and perfect will.”
~ Romans 12: 2
All of us have thought patterns that are “of this world”, and all of us need to transform and renew our mind. And while this transformation and renewal is imperative for successfully becoming Fit For Jesus, it is also vital to so many other aspects of your life, as well.
Spend some time today working on the most powerful determinant of your future: your mind. Read the most amazing “telephone call”, love letter, and personal explanation about how valuable you are today by picking up your Bible. Let God speak to you through His Holy Spirit and tell you how much He loves you and how much He believes in you.
Friend, there is a reason that Spirituality and Mindset come before Nutrition and Exercise in the creation of a healthy, Fit For Jesus Lifestyle. Think about it. Pray about it.
Become Fit For Jesus, and know that we love you and KNOW you are valuable!

That is so true. I would never dream of speaking negatively to another person why do I speak to myself that way. We are and SHOULD be our own best friends. God bless.
