Fit For Jesus!

Perspective is everything in weight loss that is centered on heaven, Jesus Christ, and eternity.

Generally, there are 2 viewpoints on nutrition, if you are dealing with someone whose viewpoint towards weight loss is worldly.

The “Nutrition Is Everything” Crowd

If the worldly person you are getting advice from is a dietician or nutrition counselor, or if it’s someone marketing a diet program, the value is placed completely on your diet.  “No exercise needed!” screams a headline on an ad.  Of course, no one who needs to lose weight initially looks forward to the exercise effort that will be required to lose it, so millions (literally) are tempted by the lie and get sucked in.

Depending on the outlandishness of the diet, these millions either:

1)      end up fed up and bitter because the diet was too difficult to follow, or

2)      they lose too much weight too fast, crash their metabolisms, feel exhausted, and then start eating like they did before.  With a slower metabolism, the fat will accumulate quickly.

Either way, the vast majority of the time, they end up fatter.  Focusing ONLY on nutrition rarely, rarely works.

The “Exercise Is Everything” Worldly View

If your worldly advisor is a trainer, then his magic formula is the workout program.  The secret combination of exercises and cardio will help you burn more fat than you have ever burned in your life.  Do their exercise patterns, and you’ll get skinny so fast you’ll need a raise or a second job to buy all your new, smaller, sexier clothes.

Oh… and if they even mention it, you’ll need to eat a little less.  In other words, their entire focus is on the physical exercise program, and very little effort or time is placed on healthy nutrition.

Guess what?  That won’t work, as thousands of frustrated clients working with “weekend-certified” personal trainers prove in thousands of gym around the world.

I’ll say it simply:  you can’t out-train a poor diet.  Nutrition is extremely important.

Nutrition for Christian Weight Loss

But while nutrition is undeniably important, where does it fall in Christian weight loss?

After Spirituality and Mindset have been properly addressed.

The world has proven that focusing completely on nutrition doesn’t work.  And the world has proven that focusing completely on exercise doesn’t work.  The reality is that you need both, but GOD’s reality is that you need HIM first, so that He can work on your value and your mind, first, so that your efforts toward a healthier temple of the Holy Spirit are blessed and focused on eternity!

At Fit For Jesus, our entire goal is to help you see that Spirituality (knowing your value in the eyes of God) and Mindset (allowing the Holy Spirit to transform your mind) are the foundation for weight loss.  Upon those foundations are laid the fancy details of Nutrition, Exercise, and Lifestyle.

Remember:  Perspective is everything in weight loss that is centered on heaven, Jesus Christ, and eternity.  Get Fit For Jesus and embrace “Fitness Focused on Eternity!”
